On November 13-15 2007 the seminar about realization of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety in Armenia took place in Yerevan . It must be mentioned that the Cartagena Protocol was validated in Armenia on March 16, 2004. First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection of RA S. Papyan, Head of Agency of Biological Resources A. Ziroyan, Director of “Information Analitical Center” SNCO A. Saratikyan, workers from different departments of RA Nature Protection Ministry, from the Ministry of Agriculture of RA, professors of Higher Educational Institutions of RA, representatives of NGO-s and scientists of different offices took part in the seminar. The seminar was conducted by the regional experts Anastasia Indrisova and Damir Amirov. During the seminar the participants got acquainted with the possible mechanisms of cooperation between the countries which had validated Cartagena Protocol. The participants discussed the possible ways of creating Biosafety Clearing-House system, the information maintenance and management mechanisms in order to put it in Protocol BCH site in the future for making it available for society. Then the regional experts presented the experience at the countries which had validated Cartagena Protocol.
